  6. This is the FULL OzMetro BBS distribution release archive.  It contains
  7. a FULL working version of everything you need to setup the OzMetro BBS
  8. program, and is NOT crippleware or anything.  Everything works - well I
  9. HOPE so, anyway :-)
  10.  
  11. OzMetro is a substantially restructured new release of the old Metro BBS
  12. system.  It has been re-vamped to enable even a novice sysop to be
  13. logging into a working setup in LESS THAN TEN MINUTES, while retaining
  14. all the power previously available as well as adding far more features.
  15.  
  16. OzMetro is an extremely reliable BBS program and is an excellent choice
  17. for a novice sysop.  There is no compulsory registration fee for the
  18. program and the release version is not crippled in any way at all.  Note
  19. that OzMetro is only a single line BBS program at the moment.
  20.  
  21. OzMetro also has NO message functions inbuilt, these are done by the
  22. Plutonic *.MSG area manager with serial routines, which is also being
  23. released today (and you should also obtain, naturally).  Use of the
  24. standard *.MSG base means you have a wide choice of mail software.
  25. As a companion to THIS archive, you should get the Plutonic archive
  26. (PltNic21.lha).  This provides all the MESSAGE functions for OzMetro.
  27.  
  28. You will also want to obtain as many door files as you can find to run
  29. off your BBS program.  You can run Metro format doors, doors written for
  30. Paragon/StarNet (as long as they don't ask for system files) and also
  31. Generic CLI programs that run in the shell and exit on receipt of a
  32. Ctrl-C signal.  OzMetro is VERY flexible when it comes to doors :-) I
  33. currently have 93 (different) doors running at Inquestor!
  34.  
  35. In this archive, I'll be including a list of all doors suitable for
  36. running on an OzMetro BBS that are downloadable or Freqable from
  37. Inquestor, and probably a few other BBSs by the time you read this.
  38. This file is called Doors&Utes.txt.
  39.  
  40. Don't forget you can always search for Generic CLI and Paragon doors on
  41. any old Amiga-supporting BBS.  If you find anything useful, I'd love to
  42. be either told about it, or even receive a copy, if I don't already have
  43. the door here at Inquestor.

  45. This  archive  consists  of 7 directories.  The BBS program, Maintenance
  46. program and the Setup program are found in the BBS directory.
  47.  
  48. The Bin directory contains a number of programs the BBS runs.  See the
  49. documentation for how to install these ones.  If you keep things like
  50. this in your c:  directory, you may as well copy them all there now.
  51.  
  52. The Docs directory is where you should start looking - at least SCAN the
  53. OzMetro documentation for information on how to launch the Setup
  54. program.  The Setup Program will setup a BASIC OzMetro system for you in
  55. less than ten minutes.  Please use it, it's great.

  57. The Doorfiles1 directory contains TWO doors that are setup as example
  58. LogOff doors in OzMetro.  After you run the setup program, copy these
  59. directories in the Doorfiles1 directory of this archive to YOUR
  60. Doorfiles1 directory, and two doors will be INSTANTLY available to your
  61. system.  See in the main documentation under "Logoff Doors" for specific
  62. info on these two doors.

  64. ALSO in this directory is the Today In History program for getting
  65. "Today's Events" setup.  Likewise, this directory should go verbatim to
  66. YOUR Doorfiles1 directory.

  68. Archives of the two OzMetro door interpreters (P2M and PlutCLI) are also
  69. found in the Doorfiles1 directory for your later use.  If you want a
  70. remote DOS shell for Sysop use, you can do this from PlutCLI - see the
  71. docs in that archive for how to do this.

  73. In the examples directory you'll find some of my key menus, scripts and
  74. textfiles.  Have a look at these AFTER you've set the BBS up and need
  75. some inspiration as to what you can do to customise your setup.

  77. The libs directory contains 5 xpr libraries and the arp.library.  You
  78. will most probably already have these, but they've been included just in
  79. case.

  81. The contents of the TextFiles1 directory should be copied to YOUR
  82. textfiles1 directory after you've set the BBS up.  Don't forget you can
  83. edit these files, customising them for your own BBS.

  85. PS: The FileList program archive (FiList31.lha) is included in this
  86. archive in the BBS directory.  Use this to get ASCII textfiles of your
  87. OzMetro file areas.
